Project 1: RE:STORE Barnyard Nursery
One of the fond memories for many people in Holbrook was the Barnyard Nursery. Father O'Keefe, the former pastor of Our Lady Of Guadalupe remembers hanging out at the barnyard nursery until closing and then going out to eat at the Mesa aftewards. Many community members say, "My house is surrounded by plants farm the Barnyard Nursery. The road to the County Courthouse is lined with trees from the Barnyard Nursery. The Barnyard Nursery has committed herself to being a base for "Serve Holbrook."
HISTORY of Holbrook & Rte 66
Holbrook AZ began with the Railroad, AZTEC Cattle Company & a whole bunch of salons and grew into a county seat, a supplier of workers for the local APS power plant, and became a diverse town of great food, great people, and great local nature destinations, being nestled along the Petrified Forest and being near scenic canyons, high desert plateau rivers, and more. Holbrook became the inspiration for the Disney movie cars, and has had so much to offer from the unique signs to the wigwam, to the now famous SAKE maker of Arizona Sake. Holbrook is a gem that requires love and polishing, and is well worthy of restoration and renewal. Our goal at Serve Holbrook is to bring together all the great people and work in the smallest of ways to help Holbrook continue to be a blessing to the people in town, and to those visiting us along the Old RTE 66 and the present day I40.
